Bring Your Dog To Work Day!

Apparently today is ‘Bring Your Dog To Work Day’! Well, for Paddy (Education dog for the South East) and many of our other education dogs here at Dogs Trust, it’s no different to any other day as you’re about to find out…

I’m Jo, Education & Community Officer for the South East, and my dog (and best friend!), Paddy, is at work with me every day. On some days this just means chilling out in the office whilst I get on with admin…

Some days, however, he comes into schools with me to help teach children all about safety around dogs and responsible dog ownership. This can really help bring some of our lessons to life as children are able to practice some of the things they’ve learnt, such as how to greet a dog safely, on a real dog!

Schools can be very strange places for dogs (they’re often very large, noisy, crowded & unpredictable things can happen) so it’s definitely not an environment that all dogs would cope with or enjoy. Consequently, here at Dogs Trust, all of our Education dogs receive ongoing training and are assessed by our Senior Training and Behaviour Advisors before being allowed into schools (they are then re-assessed each year). Thankfully, Paddy is a very confident dog and just loves going to new places and meeting new people. Here are a few pictures of some of the weird and wonderful experiences he’s had when visiting schools across Kent and Sussex…

If you would like Paddy and I to visit your school please just get in touch here . We have just a few days left for this term but are already taking bookings for September.
