Looking Forward to 2019

I can’t believe 2018 is coming to a close. What a fantastic year it’s been. Since January this year I have visited nearly 400 schools and taught over 20,000 pupils! Thank you so much to all the schools that have allowed me to visit and spend time with your pupils. The last term of 2018 has been a busy one with a jammed packed diary visiting lots of new schools. My popular lessons this term have been Dogs in War round about Remembrance Day which also links in nicely with the Primary 7 class topic of the World Wars. Another popular lesson towards the end of November start of December was our Case Studies Lesson which really encourages pupils to understand “A Dog is for Life, not just for Christmas” – This has been our famous slogan for over 40 years now! But yet it is still so important to teach children as they grow about the responsibility involved in owning a pet dog. If children can grown up learning to respect dogs, that they are sentient beings with feelings and aren’t just commodities we can forget about, then hopefully we can make a real difference to dog welfare. We now have even more lessons added to our education programme such as senses, literacy and numeracy. I have no doubt they will be a big hit! Remember our workshops run all year round. If you’re in Glasgow or the surrounding areas and you would like to get your new term off to a great start next year please don’t hesitate to get in touch on: [email protected], other wise please check our website to get in touch with your closest Education Officer. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Gemma
