A new year and a new decade means we should be making some BIG new year's resolutions, right? Maybe not. I'm not a huge fan of new year's resolutions but I do enjoy a bit of reflection and forward thinking and I definitely think there's always changes we can make and things we can introduce to benefit our four-legged friends.
2019 wasn't the best year for my dog, Paddy, with cruciate ligament surgery on both his back legs at separate times, plus a very scary abscess on his throat which resulted in days spent on a drip in the vets. All of this also meant a significant period of very restricted exercise which, for such an energetic dog, was tough! However, we managed to come up with lots of new, fun activities to keep his mind active (see my previous blog post).
So what are my hopes for 2020? Well, all being well, by February we should be able to start getting back to normal exercise again. I then plan on having lots of adventures with Paddy throughout the year. We're so fortunate that the UK is so dog-friendly. It means we'll be able to visit lots of cafes and pubs together, travel on public transport and have some holidays! (Did you know that Dogs Trust works with cottages.com and Hoseasons and for every booking made, 10% of the booking price goes straight back to Dogs Trust? You can find out more here).
This year my main focus is going to be getting out and about more with Paddy, exploring new places together. Time spent with dogs is time well spent in my mind!
What are your hopes for this shiny, new decade?
Jo (and Paddy)
